Rough ER (Endoplasm Reticulum)

Structure of rough ER- Rough ER has a binding site for ribosomes, which is called the translocon. Although ribosomes bind to the translocon, they do so only temporarily as they are regularly released from the membrane. A ribosome binds to the RER when a protein-nucleic acid forms in the cytosol, which is another cell component. Protein is processed in the ER lumen by a peptidase enzyme, which removes the original signal peptide. At this point, ribosomes may return to the cytosol. Occasionally they stay with the translocons.

Function of the rough ER - The rough endoplasmic reticulum, also called the Rough ER, is involved with protein synthesis. The Rough ER works by producing proteins and helping them fold properly.

Rough ER is involved in some protein production, protein production, protein folding, quality control. It is called "rough" because it is studded with ribosomes.

Without the RER the cell is not able to synthesis new plasma membrane proteins, lysosomal enzymes, proteins for the Golgi apparatus and proteins for extracellular secretion. Because these kind of proteins are synthesis in the RER.

Five examples of rough ER. 1) The rough ER working with membrane bound ribosomes takes polypeptides and amino acids from the cytosol and continues protein assembly including, at an early stage, recognizing a ‘destination label’ attached to each of them. 2)While the function of the nucleus is to act as the cell brain, the ER functions transport of various proteins , carrying them to the Golgi  apparatus. 3)  Lysosomes hold enzymes that were created by the cell. The enzyme proteins are first created in the rough ER. 4) The rough ER also makes phospholipids for other cellular membranes, which are transported when the vesicle forms. 5) Rough lies immediately adjacent to the cell nucleus, and its membrane is continuous with the outer membrane of the nuclear envelope.

One interesting facts is that Rough ER is makes proteins and smooth ER makes lipids and they have many differences between rough ER and smooth ER.
